About the Course

This undergraduate Physiology lesson introduces the organization and mechanisms of host defence. It classifies innate and adaptive immunity; describes physical, chemical, cellular and soluble components of innate immunity and the inflammatory response; explains antigen recognition, MHC class I and II pathways, lymphocyte activation, cell-mediated and humoral immunity, and primary versus secondary immune responses; and outlines immune regulation and the consequences of dysregulation.
