About the Course
Anemia is a common complication of several infectious diseases and an important global public health problem. Microorganisms including parasites, bacteria, and viruses cause anemia through mechanisms such as hemolysis, chronic blood loss, bone marrow suppression, inflammation, and nutritional deficiencies. This module discusses the major microbial causes of anemia, their morphology, transmission, pathogenesis, clinical features, laboratory diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. Special emphasis is placed on understanding the mechanisms responsible for infectious anemia.-
