पाठ्यक्रम के बारे में

Neurulation is a fundamental embryological process that involves the formation of the neural tube, the precursor of the central nervous system. This chapter provides a comprehensive understanding of the sequential events involved in neural development, beginning with induction of the neural plate and progressing through neural fold formation, neural tube closure, and neural crest cell migration.

The course emphasizes the molecular and structural mechanisms underlying primary and secondary neurulation, the role of the notochord in neural induction, and the differentiation of neural crest derivatives. Clinical correlations such as neural tube defects, including spina bifida and anencephaly, are discussed with relevance to preventive measures like folic acid supplementation.

By the end of this chapter, learners will be able to explain the stages of neurulation, identify the embryological basis of congenital anomalies related to neural tube development.
