About the Course

Carcinoma of the stomach, also known as gastric cancer, is a malignant tumor arising from the lining of the stomach. It is commonly associated with risk factors such as Helicobacter pylori infection, smoking, and a diet high in salted or processed foods. Early stages often show mild or no symptoms, making it difficult to detect. As the disease progresses, symptoms may include abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea, and vomiting. The most common type is adenocarcinoma, originating from glandular cells. Diagnosis is usually made through endoscopy and biopsy. Treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Prognosis depends on the stage at which the cancer is detected. Early detection significantly improves survival rates.
