About the Course

A and B antigens as well as Rh antigens show codominant inheritance. ABO and Rh systems are encoded by chromosomes 9 and 1 respectively. ABO antibodies are naturally occurring while Rh antibodies are immune. Both are important from point of view of blood transfusion and hemolytic disease of newborn. ABO system is also important in bone marrow and solid organ transplant. Tube technique is considered gold standard for ABO grouping and Rh typing.
