About the Course
Sampling techniques are methods used to select a subset of individuals or items from a larger population for the purpose of analysis. Common techniques include:
1. Random Sampling: Every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected, which helps ensure the sample is representative.
2. Systematic Sampling: Selecting every nth individual from a list or sequence, often used when a list is organized in a systematic way.
3. Stratified Sampling: Dividing the population into distinct subgroups (strata) and sampling from each subgroup to ensure representation of all key segments.
4. Cluster Sampling: Dividing the population into clusters (often geographically) and randomly selecting entire clusters for study, useful for large populations.
5. Convenience Sampling: Choosing a sample based on ease of access, which can introduce bias but is often used in exploratory research.
Each technique has its own strengths and limitations, and the choice of method depends on the research goals and constraints.
