About the Course

The Rapoport-Luebering glycolytic shunt is predominantly present in erythrocytes. Because of this shunt, there is reduction of ATPs in the glycolysis. Despite that, why is this shunt operational? Why is oxygen always transported from maternal circulation to fetal circulation and not vice versa? Why does the blood stored for a prolonged time in blood banks possess high oxygen affinity? You will find the answers to all these questions in this lesson.
