About the Course
“Basic Concepts in Immunology” intends to familiarize the reader with the fundamental concepts of Adaptive and Innate Immunity and explain how the two systems are different and yet work in unison in an intricately orchestrated dynamic network of cells and cell associated molecules. To stress upon the vital function of the molecules and the various pathways of immune mechanisms, the deliberations will introduce you to the Inborn Errors of Immunity (also called Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases) which are aptly described as “experiments of nature” and “nature’s knock out models”. There will be sections dedicated to Disorders on Innate Immunity (Part 2), Disorders of T cell Immunity (Part 3) and Disorders of B cell Immunity (Part 4) which will take you through different disease phenotypes and clinical scenarios that can be encountered in clinical practice resulting from genetic defects of the molecules involved in the immune response.
