About the Course
Purpose: This unit provides an overview of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and outlines the role of Programme Management Support Units (PMSUs). It describes the five pillars under NRHM – Increased Community Participation, Flexible Financing, Monitoring Progress, Innovations in Human Resource Management and Improved Management through Capacity Building. Other aspects of NRHM are discussed including its guiding principles, decentralised management structures, provision of additional untied funds, institutional mechanisms, role of Panchayati Raj Institutions and role of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs).
Time required: Three hours
Prerequisite: This unit should be completed after the completion of Theme 1.
